FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
For one night only, both local and national artists come together to present their final works.
Please join us for the culmination of the Pajama Factory’s 8-week Artist-in-Residence program. The artists, who hail from Las Vegas, New York City, State College, Bloomsburg and our very own Williamsport, will be presenting readings and performances in PJF Community Room at the top of every hour while visual and fine artists will be on display in the Factory Works Gallery (@FactoryWorksGallery) located on the 2nd floor, Studio 9-210N.
Chosen to participate in this year’s program through a curated process, each artist was asked to provide one outreach component for the public and state what they hoped to accomplish during their time at the Factory. They have created works in mediums as varied as painting, fiber arts, printmaking, digital and new media, photography, writing and performance. They represent a diverse array of practices emblematic of the spirit the Pajama Factory Artist-in-Residence has embodied since it inception in 2009.
This year’s artists are: Rachel Cualedare, Kay Leigh Farley, Rowan Shaffer, Sigfried Aragona, Sarah Foster, Sophie Najjar, and Sheilagh Weymouth. The artists themselves will be in attendance to discuss their work. Light refreshments will be served.
We hope you’ll join us, Friday, August 2nd from 6 to 9 pm, for this final closing exhibition. To find statements regarding their work as well as biographical information, please visit the 2019 Final Exhibition page on the air.pajamafactory.net website.

“I am a story teller — a narrative painter. My figures, mostly women, are often meditations on archetypes, myth or personal experience. This allows me to build an environment inhabited by beings with all that it means to be human, alive and still in a dream.†– Joanne Landis

Originally called Mayfest, we recently rebranded the event to better represent what it is all about which is promoting and supporting green, sustainability initiatives! As a re-purposed, industrial building, the Pajama Factory itself is a green initiative! With over 100 artists, makers, and entrepreneurs, we believe that community IS sustainability and wanted an event to specifically celebrate just THAT.
We will feature Factory Works programs such as the Community Woodshop, Clay Studio, Sewing & Photo labs, and we will also feature local vendors who utilize green practices. Equinox LTD will be doing demos, showing their outdoor gear. The gallery will host the PA Wilds’ traveling Art Show which showcases Creative Makers from all over the region!
There will also be a number of conservation and nonprofit organizations joining us such as Little Pine Creek State Park, DCNR Bureau of Forestry, and Middle Susquehanna Riverkeepers along with local, green vendors!
Join us on Saturday, April 7th from 11am-4pm and SPRING into SUSTAINABILITY!

Factory Works Gallery invites you to Painted Journal II, an exhibition of work by Rita & Steve Bower which chronicles the creative journey they have traveled over the years.  Join us on Friday, 11/3 from 6-9pm on the 2nd floor of Building 9, Studio 10.
According to Steve, “It is almost painfully difficult to describe art and the art experience. Try to describe the wind, the sun on your face, or the look in a child’s eye and that is what it is like. For each person it is a distinctly different experience or sensation and we as artists try to create things which in the presence of others are transcendent enough to connect.â€
Rita added that, “It is my dream to one day make art that will stir someone. Although more comfortable wearing the hat of the ‘art educator,’ when I make art I am often filled with a sense of accomplishment and honesty.â€
We hope you will join us in exploring this painted journal that Rita and Steve Bower have and continue to create. Â This exhibition will be available to public through November 24th. Â Gallery hours are Wednesdays & Thursdays from 4-7pm.
