Spring is a joyful time of year; a time we eagerly look forward to each winter—and, this year is no exception. We can’t wait for the fabulous blooming of our weeping cherry tree in the courtyard, which is truly a sight to behold.

With Spring comes a desire to move forward with an eye towards the future. And, that is what we are doing….we are looking ahead … excited about all of our new tenants, anticipating great upcoming events, and planning to spruce up around the factory with a community Spring Cleaning event and potluck.

If you haven’t had a chance to visit the Pajama Factory yet, why not stop by to meet some great folks, wander our halls, sign up for a class or enjoy one of our very special events. If you’ve visited already, thanks for coming … you are always welcome!!

In Focus: Veruschka

Veruschka moved into the Pajama Factory last year. She exudes sunshine, and her work reflects Spring — the season we are so looking forward to!

Veruschka is a former Software Engineer turned soul-centered, polymer clay jewelry designer and maker. She makes one-of-a-kind handcrafted jewelry art that is powerful in meaning, alive with colors, texture and simply beautiful – featured in exclusive boutiques in Philly and New York with commissioned work for some of the biggest fashion magazines in the US.

Our Special Events are a great way for folks to experience the factory, and get to know many of our tenants and see what they do. These events also provide inspiration for outsiders as we always get many requests for available studio spaces after one of these events. Our annual February First Friday event was no exception, and we had many hundreds, if not thousands, from our community stop by.

Our next big event is planned for Saturday May 7th with our 3rd Annual Mayfest celebration. It is a festival of arts, fashion, food, and adventure. Local & regional artists, vendors, musicians, and designers will be showcased throughout the day and you won’t want to miss the “Strut” fashion show which will showcase fashions designed by some of our own tenants. If you are traveling from a distance to attend, we would be happy to give you recommendations on where to stay!

Pajama Jam Open Mic Night. March 25, 2016.8-10pm.

If the Pajama Factory is closer to home for you, check out some of out more regular events like the Pajama Jam Open-Mic Nights, Front Parlor storytelling series, Taiko — Japanese Festival drumming, monthly photo critiques, and classes in painting, woodwork, ceramics, and photography. There is something for everyone!

Building News

We have been welcoming a number of new tenants to our folds including Diane (painter), Nick (taxi company), Christina (writer), Jacqueline (yoga instructor), Andrea and Ashley (graphic design & more), Denise (Factory Works Board member), and Danielle (Purple Threads Theater Co.). We also just signed a lease with Lisa of Andrus Hospitality to rent our big event space, the Clearstory, which will eventually include a new community kitchen. All this is a good sign of the growth to come — just like the buds we see popping up early in our courtyard garden.

Artist-in-Residence Program

If you know anyone who might be interested in the The Pajama Factory Artist-In-Residence (AIR) program this year, have them fill out an application by the end of the month (due date is March 31st!) The AIR program provides artists with an expansive, flexible environment in which to work, and a platform for the exchange of creative ideas between participants and the community. It is a multi-disciplinary, international six week summer residency program centered at the Pajama Factory and is designed to provide both emerging and established artists and writers a place to grow creatively, as they work freely amongst the larger creative community housed here.
